The next big game of the weekend sees our under 17’s have a second attempt at their Scottish Cup, quarter-final against Banchory BC from Aberdeen. The team travel up to Aberdeen tomorrow morning with nothing to fear after a number of good results in this competition and we’re confident that they can progress to the next round.
The under 21’s also have a big game today where they travel to Broxburn in the South East Region Cup, with the winners being at home to Edinburgh City in the quarter-finals. Coming off the back of a great 2-1 win in last weekends Lady Darling Cup, the team are looking to progress to the next round of the competition which is the show-case event for the region in Dunbar in May. A full preview of the under 21’s game is available here.
In the last game on Saturday, our under 19’s are in local cup action against Hunterfield ‘94s. These two teams currently sit 1st and 2nd respectively in their league section (we have a game in hand) and a win for us tomorrow, will hopefully see us set our stall out for the rest of the season.
On Sunday morning, our under 13’s travel to Musselburgh Windsor in the semi-final of the Peter O’Neill Cup, where a win would see them face Tynecastle or Hutchison Vale in the final.
The 13’s Colts are also away from home, where they travel the short distance to play local rivals, Spartans Blacks FC. Their league cup section is still quite open and a win would see us climb the section and be in contention to progress to the knock-out stages.
We have our three under 14’s teams playing at Leith Links this weekend, with our 1st team playing Tranent Colts in the quarter-finals of the Willie Bauld Memorial Trophy. With the final of this competition being played at Tynecastle Stadium, the team are keen to ensure that they get there, but face a tough match on Sunday first of all.
Our under 14’s 1998’s play Musselburgh Windsor Colts for the second week in a row, but this time in the 1st round of the David Innes Cup. The result didn’t go our way last week (losing 6-3), but the boys have worked hard in training this week and are raring to go on Sunday.
The last game on Sunday morning, sees our under 14’s Whites face Cramond BC in the League Cup section. We have currently won all three games thatwe’ve played in the League Cup and a win in Sunday should ensure that we progress to the knock out stages of this competition.
On Sunday afternoon, our East of Scotland under 19’s face Coldstream FC in a league match. The team have faced a number of call offs over the winter months, but we hope to now see a run of games where we can climb our way up the league table.
The under 15’s are also at home on Sunday afternoon and they face Liverton United in a league match. The team remain unbeaten in their league section and a win in the only match to be played in the league this weekend, would see them extend their lead at the top.
The last game at Leith Links on Sunday afternoon sees our new Ladies team continue their preparation for the new season starting in March with their 2nd pre-season friendly. On Sunday, we face Murieston Ladies in a 2:00pm kick off.
The last game on Sunday; sees our under 16’s squad travel to top of the table Star “A” in a vital game in their promotion push. This team have improved hugely this season and whilst some results may not have gone our way recently, the team are still pushing on and a win for us on Sunday will certainly make things interesting at the top of their league.
All the best to all teams this weekend.
