Managers’ Thoughts
“Last weekend, I was really happy with the performance that the players gave us. We were the better team for long periods of the game and in the first seventy minutes, we created more than enough chances to win the game. Unfortunately, if you don’t take these chances at this level, good teams will punish you, and that’s exactly what Edinburgh City done.
Tomorrow, we face Vale of Leithen in another vital league game and I’ll need to stress the importance of this to our player’s beforehand. I think we all know that we’ve probably not done as well as we should have this season, but I’ve seen enough of our squad and other teams in the league to know that we’re capable of climbing this table in no time, to ensure that we’re playing Premier League football next season.
We’re missing Neil Lowson and Jack Combe tomorrow through suspension, with the latter being extremely unlucky to be missing out tomorrow. In addition, we have Jon Manson missing with an ankle injury and Martin MacAulay will face a late fitness test, having taken a knock early on in the game last weekend. Lewis Martin rejoins the squad after injury and our Monday night friendly will have done some players’ match fitness the world of good.
Vale of Leithen will be tough opponents tomorrow and knowing Jamie Burrell as I do, he’ll have his guys trying to get the ball down and play, which should suit us perfectly. They have a number of threats in their squad with Scott Devlin capable of scoring goals from midfield and Jamie Lauder being able to pick passes from the left-hand side. If our game from earlier in the season (in the league cup) is anything to go by, we should be in for a good game tomorrow”!
